How Do We Spend The Money?
The DJCC raises money from around the country to focus on judicial candidates in contested elections where DJCC efforts (either supporting the candidate or targeted against the opponent) can make an impact above and beyond what a candidate and his/her campaign can do alone.
Self-research, opposition research, focus groups and polling are vital to understanding how the race needs to play out in order to win. Just as vital is a bank account at the ready to counter the inevitable smear campaign funded by whichever corporate interests funnel money to the TV networks, radio stations, direct mail houses and phone banks. The DJCC raises money to support these expensive, but critical, campaign activities.
The DJCC also serves as a resource for disseminating up-to-date judicial campaign information to individuals, organizations and media outlets around the country. Through early education about these campaigns and there issues, the DJCC aspires to set the message and atmosphere, as well as gain early earned media, before fireworks, fundraising excesses, and paid media begin to dominate a campaign.
