About the court
The court is non-partisan with a progressive majority.
Terms are 6 years. The next election cycle is 2010.
Three of the first six opinions issued by the Court in 2009 focus in changes in the state’s DUI laws, with the state coming out the loser in all three. The other three opinions issued focused on the statute of limitations, workman’s compensation, and a tobacco settlement.
Nevada is one of the few states, if not the only, that determine the Chief Justice with a coin toss.
